Magic circle law firm becomes first to offer service to clients via a password-protected credit card voucher system
Linklaters has introduced a secure wireless connectivity service for its client reception and meeting rooms in London.
The system, visitorXS, allows those visiting the firm to use their own laptops to connect to the internet, download e-mails, access extranets and corporate work environments without having to connect wires to modems.
The service is provided from Linklaters’ reception when clients are issued with a credit card voucher containing a unique user name and password. This allows them access free of charge when they agree to the firm’s terms and conditions of use. They can then use the facility throughout their stay at the firm.
Uptake has been high, particularly among clients engaged in transactions as the service enables them to access documentation from their work computers.
The service, which is managed and supported by the front of house technical department, is thought to be the first fully managed secure wi-fi service provided by a law firms for clients.
A spokesperson for the firm said that the move was “all part of enhancing the client offering”. The spokesperson added: “The service is extremely beneficial for clients while working at Linklaters by easing the access and movement of current data and information, and uptake has been significant. “It is all part of Linklaters’ commitment to providing the highest quality service and support to its clients.”
